Theater of the Deaf - This grant is designed to expand the experience of the students at Oswegatchie School with the challenges experienced by children with special needs. The focus is hearing impaired and sign language. The National Theater of the Deaf has been touring the country for 40 years showcasing the talents of the deaf as well as informing the hearing population about communicating using sign language. The Little Theater of the Deaf, a component on the National Theater, predominently provides assemblies for children .The Little Theater will present a story of a deaf boy in a school environment and how he compensates to overcome his inability to hear. The performance includes an interactive segment in which students are chosen to participate. The objective is to improve perception and knowledge of the deaf culture.

Audio Books - The Waterford Public Library is committed to providing a variety of collections, programs and services for young adults in the grades six through twelve. Their dedicated TEEN section a collection of over 2300 title, has the latest teen novels, graphic novels.teen magazines, as well as books on school reading lists. The library also subscribes to NET LIBRARY, a resource for downloadable audiobooks. The purpose of this grant is to improve and enhance the library's services to teens by adding a digital audiobook collection.
