INITIATIVES - 2010

  

 

Windows-On-Our-Waters - The  Windows-On-Our-Waters Environmental Education Program is dedicated to raising the awareness Oswegatchie School children and the public concerning the issues of watershed protection and preservation and  motivating them and giving them the tools they need to stop pollutants from reaching our aquatic, coastal and marine ecosystems and empowering them to become environmental stewards.

 

 

Drama Club Enrichment - This project will allow the students of Waterford High School Drama Club to experience  and be exposed to different styles, ideas, creative processes and leaders having ideas and skills they might not otherwise be exposed.  The Club director, Shane Valle, will research, through personal knowledge and professional associates, workshop leaders who will come to the school and interact with Club members.

 

 

CelloBop - Gideon Freudmann, cello innovator, composer, songwriter, etc., plays a fusion of blues, jazz, folk, classical rock, and more on his cello. His innovative use of electronics, combined with classical cello techniques, allows him  to tap into the mysteries of the cello's potential. Students will come away with a greater understanding of the cello and a sense of joy as music makers and music listeners.  All orchestra, band, and choral students from both Clark Lane Middle School and Waterford High School will benefit from this grant.

  

 

Romeo and Juliet - Clark Lane Middle School's eighth grade Gold Team will interact with arts educators from the Flock Theater to enhance student's understanding of Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet.  Theater arts educators from Flock Theater will present Flock's "Shakespeare With  A Twist", an interactive program where  students improvise scenes from the play. The activity will take place at the Connecticut College Arboretum' stage area. Students will have the opportunity to perform using props and costumes. Between 85 - 90 students will benefit
